i think he meant jason to be red robin, and damian to be robin. cuz that wouldnt make much sense, lol.
i think if tim doesnt get to stay as robin, he should become red robin. tim deserves to keep the robin name, he made robin cool. lol.

Well I really don't have a good idea of what's all going on in this Batman R.I.P. arc, but I just wanna say that I'm ready for this Grant Morrison run to be over. I don't know why Grant keeps insisting on changing Batman's history so much. First he wants him to be more of a "superhero," then gives him a son, now he's killing him. Wow.
Anyways, I'm just kinda an outsider on this one, looking at the big picture. And maybe I don't have much right to say anything on this matter since I haven't read any of the actual comics in this storyline, but I just wanted to get that out. |

^All of Morrison's storylines that preceded RIP were written specifically as a build-up to this arc. And like you said, until you read Morrison's run, you really can't say anything about whether or not it's good.

I guess, aside from the comments for the news on the main page, this is the place to discuss this.
SPOILERS FOR FINAL CRISIS #6 AFTER THE BREAK
Bruce Wayne has finally died. Batman potentially ended Darkseid's threat to the Universe by putting a bullet in his chest.
I will give you a chance to read that sentence again...
In The Dark Knight last summer, Batman told the Joker that he only has one rule. While it is not told, we all know that it is no killing.
Over the generations of Batman comics there was even a time that Batman refused to even fire a gun. Now in the moments of his death he not only fires a gun, but does so with the intent to take a life.
Which begs the question: Should Batman break his rule if it becomes the only possibility to right the wrongs?
With the way that the scene is displayed in the comic, I say yes.
This is one of the darkest hours in the DC Universe. Batman has found the solution, and is arguably the only person who can get in close enough to Darkseid and stand up to him to use the final solution.
The scene is one of the best that I have read in a Crisis comic. You can even see a little fear in Darkseid's raised hand in one of the panels as Batman points the gun at him.
Much like Barry Allen, the Flash, did in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Batman action to save the Universe causes his death.
Bruce Wayne died a hero and the DC Universe will never forget it.

Just finished reading all the Final Crisis comics so far, and what can I say? Probably summat that contains spoilers, so if you don't wanna know, look away now.
Morrison's composed the most beautiful saga in comics I've ever read. I mean, his run on Batman and the whole Final Crisis cross-over is nothing short of amazing. So amazing, that the only thing I've found wrong with it is Final Crisis #6 where the Omega Sanction strikes Batman, coz the picture should've been just as good as the scene. As it turns out, it's one of the ugliest illustrated pieces I've seen thus far. Nevertheless, you should enjoy looking at the last page as Superman holds Bruce's smoking carcass upon the ruins of Bludhaven.
I think it's amazing that in his last missions, Batman saved the world from the Devil, and the universe from a demented God, however it has cost him his morals. I'm not sure if it's because of that, the "eternity of multiple deaths in multiple universes, each more severe than the last" thing, or that God awful picture of him getting fried that is the "fate worse than death", but they have all contributed towards it. What'd make it even worse? If Batman's actions have serious consequences for the superheroes of the DCU. That'd mean that in his final moments, he failed.
Still, I like the thought that he's eradicated two of the biggest threats in the DCU. I just kinda feel sorry for the Joker. What's he gonna do now without his Batty-poo? Besides drop out of the guano industry, that is...

Well honestly i haven't read final crisis... I am waiting for it to come out in tbp form... But what from what you guys have said about batman killing makes me not want to read it. Plus with batman killing it just makes me think that the future titans in titans tomorrow will come true.

^But ain't it refreshing to see evil triumph for a change? And for Batman to finally die? He's my favourite comic book character, but some things just need to happen. Also, Batman's death makes the Final Crisis story that much more credible. I just hope it has a huge impact on everything in the DCU. After all, it's not every day that an alien God enslaves 3 billion humans and brings the superhero community to it's knees...

Well I am almost positive that from what I have heard about Final Crisis that it will effect the whole DCU.... And yes it is nice to see evil triumph for once but I hope that the things that were happening in titans tomorrow don't happen in the Titans comic because if they do eventually there will be no need for superhreros because they would have killed all thier adversaries

The thing to keep in mind is that supposedly the Omega Sanction isn't death so much as it is the "death that is life."
In Morrison's other work Seven Soldiers of Victory, Mr. Miracle gets caught in the Omega Sanction by Darkseid and is forced to live countless lifetimes of unhapiness and death.

There is no way it will be that long. Fan won't allow it first of all, i f they want to keep Batman as being the Top title, they will come to their senses and bring Bruce back.
I'm also wonderinf, how will Hush play into this. With Bruce "gone" will Hush, who now looks like Bruce take his place as Wayne CEO?

I've been keeping up with Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis and honestly i have to say that i am not enjoying it. It's confusing and i don't feel like any of it connects. In my opinion Grant Morrison is a terrible author. I haven't read that much by him only arkham asylum and final crisis and all of it seems like incoherent thoughts strung together on a page. I feel like he just takes a dartboard full of words and picks at random and hopes a good story comes out. Sorry to anyone who really likes Morrison but I think he sucks big time and he is ruining what is supposed to be the most epic story in DC history.

I honestly don't understand how people don't get Morrison's work. Maybe you read one panel on issue 1, and completely forget it by the time you read the last panel on issue 3. I don't know. What I do know is that all those people who say they don't 'get' R.I.P. or Final Crisis either haven't been paying attention at all, or are just downright stupid, because I honestly have no idea how it could confuse so many.

I guess I could be put into the downright stupid category (despite my over 20 years of reading Batman comics, and around 15 longboxes full of comics) because I did not have a clue as to what was even going on in RIP and Final Crisis until the last couple of issues. Everything was too disjointed. Rather than complain about things not making sense, I sat back and waited. One way or another things will get explained even if it takes years.
My favorite Morrison stuff is the JLA issues from the 90's. He took the greatest heroes in the DCU and put them against worthy foes. Now, it seems like things are cryptic early on to be cryptic. The JLA stories had mysteries to them, but it made sense for the cards to be held back. Now all of the cards are blank.
