Hello,
Let me first I would like to know if there are any other 9/11 comics, the book with the super Heroes bowing to the Firefighters and Police. I have 9/11 Volume 1 and 2 but there are not a lot of DC heros in the actual book. I have seen art work of Batman and Superman carrying firefighters out of ground zero. I awas wondering wher this art or books can be found.
Now before we go any further I am sad to say that Yes I am a Firefighter and I lost my brother (Also a firefighter) on 9/11.
This can be a reprint I don't collect to make money I collect for my love of the stories. So I don't mind reprints. Ok now that that's over.
Ok now back to my few questions.
Secondly, I was a huge Batman fan "The Darker" Batman if you know what I mean.
Well I was until I got burnt out by all the hype when the movies started to camp it up again around 93 or 94 and I dropped out.
I used to get all the "Shadow of the Bat" titles up till then.
I happened to stumble on to the Superman/Batman title and I like it so now I am keeping up with it. But I also am looking for a Dark Batman title. Like I said back in 93 I got Shadow of the Bat. Is there something out there I can keep up with that has Batman being Dark?
And lastly are there any shirts or ball caps with the Superman/Batman logo?
Sorry about the long post but as a 40 year old Batman fan who's been out of it for 10 years plus I don't want to feel lost.

As far as 9/11, I don't know.
About darkness, have you seen Batman Begins? It's the latest movie and it takes the film franchise into a darker and more realistic setting.
And for comics, almost every Batman comic I've looked into recently is dark, the only problem is that most of the time they're in story arcs and it's hard to find a point to start collecting.
There are both shirts and ballcaps with the Batman emblem on them.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

Welcome to the forum, JasterBull. And very sorry to hear about your loss.
As far as the "darker" Batman is concerned, this is a perfectly fine time to get back into the Dark Knight in both comic books and movies. As already said, if you haven't seen Batman Begins, I strongly urge you to buy the Deluxe Edition DVD set very soon. Practically any fan will tell you it's an incredible film and better than any before it. And the follow up, entitled simply The Dark Knight, is sounding great so far. But for more info on that, check the respectful movie board.
As for the comic books, both Batman and Detective Comics are featuring great stories right now, with Det' featuring one-issue stories than anyone can get into and Batman currently in the midst of a story arc. The character has remained quite dark in generally any modern comic story (certainly more than in the Schumacher films, anyway), but if you're looking for a more extreme kind, try Frank Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin for size. Doesn't get much heavier than that.
In terms of merchandise like T-shirts and ball caps, there's actually a good amount of Batman stuff out there today. Lately, a lot of clothing features retro logos from the '60s and '70s, but there's plenty of modern stuff as well. Personally, I'm not much of a hat wearer, but I have a grey Batman Begins T-shirt with the black emblem that I wear quite often. Check out Amazon.com or BYTB's Shopping Center (linked at the Home page) for a look at what's currently on the market.
I'm sure more people will be able to give you advice, but that's my bit anyway. Hope you have a great time on the site.

Welcome!
Cale pretty much covered it all. as for the Batman/Superman logo, I've only seen one shirt, it had the two of them on it, but now I can't find it
Other than home made stuff, perhaps from Ebay, there is nothing official that has the Batman/Superman logo...

There were only two volumes of the 9/11 DC specials. There a special put out by Marvel if you are interested in that line. You might still be able to find it. If not let me know, and I will see what I can do. Since the Marvel Universe is set in New York, they included the attack in issue 36 of the recent volume of Amazing Spider-man.
Since you enjoyed Hush and Face the Face, there is not a lot out there that you won't like. Fortunately the goofinness of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin didn't really have much influence on the comics. So you could really dig through the back issue bins and catch up on stuff that you think would be good. Several members and I have been picking up comics at least since you quit, so we should be able to answer any questions you may have.
A warning about All Star Batman and Robin, I don't think that they have put out more than 1 issue this year (issue 5 is set to release in January). So you get a bit of story and then wait a long time. Other than that you should enjoy the stuff that comes out regularly.

Thanx for all your help I just signed up for the comix club. Where they pull your titles and hold them so you never miss out. I put in "Batman, Detective, Legends of the Dark Knight, and Superman/Batman"
I just picked up Blind justice ( wont get a chance to read for a while and I know it's an older one) and they are looking for a few books DC did on 9/11. They did find on some list that Superman and Batman art and short stories are in a few "Relief" (Not the 9/11 vol 1 and 2) Trade books that they can get. I will keep you guys posted. But so far one comic shop by me is great the other the guy has the personalty of a wet towel. So ofcurse I shop at the other one.

I just checked the shipping changes list and I was wrong above. All Star Batman and Robin is set to be released February 7, not in January.

If you enjoy a darker Batman, and you enjoyed "Hush," you oughta check out "The Long Halloween" and its sequel, "Dark Vistory." Both are year-long mysteries set during Batman's early years, and both are much better than "Hush," in my opinion. You can probably find 'em online for less than $15 each. Then there are always the two quintessential Batman books: "Year One" and "The Dark Knight Returns," if you haven't already read them.

The only real downside to "No Man's Land" is the length of the story. I am not sure how many trades it took to get the whole year long arc, but it seemed to drag in the middle. Get that if you want to have the event in comic form, but I really enjoyed the novel version better. It just did a really good job of cutting off the fat that was included in the comic version.

The "Cataclysm" and the 5 NML trades are generally excellent. Some of the stories that fell between the two were nothing special, but they're not collected into trades, and they're unneccessary to enjoying the story. Honestly, you can safely skip even the "cataclysm" trade, as the NML sotry begins a good starting point to ease you into the saga. "Cataclysm" is a good read, though, so it's worth picking up, just not a necessity. Given your profession, you might appreciate the "cataclysm" story on a deeper level than most of us, as the bulk of the story deals with the aftermath of the massive quake and the rescue efforts.
Rucka's novelization of the NML saga is also very good. It is indeed a viable alternative to reading all those trade paperbacks, and still worthwhile even if you've already read the NML comics.

I don't know if you are interested in this because it is not a comic per se, but it deals with 9/11. Random House is a major publisher, so this will be turning up in major bookstores (Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc.)
Villard to Publish American Widow
Random House editor Chris Schluep has acquired American Widow, a graphic memoir by A.R. Torres that tells the story of her husband's life and subsequent death in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers during the 9/11 attacks. Artist Sungyoon Choi will illustrate the book.
Agent Judy Hansen negotiated the deal. Random House's Villard imprint will publish the book in the fall of 2008. Schluep is a Ballantine Books editor. Outside of the Pantheon graphic novel program, Villard, a part of Ballantine Books, has become the publishing destination for nonmanga original graphic novels at Random House.
"It's sad, alienated and very funny," Schluepdescribed the book. "It's the story of a normal person having an abnormal experience." He said American Widow is the story of Torres's relationship with her husband, a financial analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald, who started out as an illegal immigrant working in New York's garment district and worked his way up the American ladder of achievement. But it also turned out that his first day on the job at the World Trade Centerwas September 10, 2001. Torres was pregnant at the time of her husband's death.
Schluep has also acquired and worked on comics works by Harvey Pekar, and Kazu Kibuishi's Flight anthologies, also published by Random House. The illustrator for American Widow, known professionally as Choi, is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City and has produced short comics as well as illustrations for the New York Times.
The deal is for one book, but Schleup said, "We're talking about more. You're not going to make a lot of money on graphic novels, so you better be passionate about the medium." He called comics works "a new kind of book. People are discovering the medium, and manga has done so well here, it has given us a cushion to do other things."
In a telephone interview, A.R. Torres told PWCW that she considers herself "a stay-at-home mom" with her now TK-year-old son/daughter and a "personal essayist and writer." While she has read comics since she was a kid, she said she has "minimal experience" creating graphic novels, but her experience as a 9/11 widow drew her to the comics medium.
"It just seemed like the event was so graphic, the images of the towers collapsing, the images of my husband," she said. "It just seemed to be appropriate to use a graphic format. It seems even more right as we work on the book."
Torres said the book is the story of "my relationship to my husband and a historical telling of the story of a 9/11 victim's family. It's also a book about grief, what you go through when you lose someone extraordinary like my husband." Torres said her husband was from Colombia, originally an illegal immigrant working in New York City sweatshops. "Even his New York Times obituary called him 'A man of achievement,' " said Torres. "He achieved the old-fashioned American dream. He was a very smart man who was very lucky and then turned out to be very unlucky."
Torres said she wrote the script for the book and conceptualized the layout of the pages working with the artist. "I have a background in literature and film theory, and I seem to have a visual eye," she said. She also credited comics artists and New York Times illustrator David Chelsea with helping her very early in the project.
"I love working in the graphic novel form," said Torres. "It's fun and engaging, and people really connect to visual texts. People are beginning to realize just how important this medium is."
You can see the actual article (if it doesn't require a subscription) and some of the art HERE. The article mentions a Fall '08 release date, so it may not be completed yet.
