Thank you for the intelligent criticism, Hardcopi. You've got some good points, all of which are quite different from the typical complaints we've been hearing. I agree about the squished descriptions. If we could make the actual boards names a different color, it might not look so bad, but as of now, I'm thinking of getting rid of the descriptions all together. Most forums have descriptions, so we thought it'd be best to include some, but I suppose most of the board names are pretty self-explanatory anyway.
As far as complexity and spacing are concerned, I agree about the left-side icons. I'm not crazy about having two graphics next to every board (although I won't say they're "huge" ::yellowsmile:: ), but I really like how they represent the boards. I'll try ridding the descriptions and see how it looks.
I also agree that the side menu is strangely organized. Beyond and me are working on that at the moment.
I might also note that some functions simply aren't working properly at the moment, so we'll probably just have to wait that out. DCUYTB's forum isn't entirely polished, so we'll try our best to work out the kinks. Thanks again.

im getting used to the site now. its not as good as bytb, but its good. The difference is, he wasn't being totally obnoxious. ::yellowwink:: Glad you're getting used to this forum though. We still have improvements to make.

2. It seems that every page but the first page has scrolling issues (left to right wise) I am at 1024 so it should be a problem on my end.
The only time I have scroll issues is when somebody posts a picture that's too large. I run my screen big too, 1280 x 1024. Maybe it's a video driver issue?

I run at 1024 also at home and at work and both have the issue side scolling problem, but I have a side scrolling mouse at both places as well so it isn't that big an issue to me.

The width problem is due to Caleson, Panzer, Darknight, and Beyond.
Seriously. Your signature pics are forcing the design to widen the middle column. The text is a fixed size so it should be the same on each computer. When the center column signature is too large it causes the page to expand. I have no clue how it can appear correctly on your computer without making the right and left columns too small. |

Even though I'm running at 1440 x 900, my browser doesn't use all of it - still, I only get side scrolling very rarely. |

I doubt it. I have no side scroll issues until a very large picture gets posted. I've never had a Sig cause it.

Ok, you asked for it.
3. The main forum page is VERY confusing. Each category has a squished description when 99% of the time it isn't needed. Then you have the heroes all over the place. I think from the way you were previously set up (BM, WW and Supes boards) you might want to reorganize it into those sections, then the rest of the DCU. Would let the BM people more easily concentrate on their heroes, etc. Also does each forum need it's own huge graphic? Then again those might look fine if the descriptions weren't spacing it apart so much.
Well it is organized in Sections and each Section has a Board (with Threads) that is devoted to a particular Hero. For example DC Toy Museum is a Section with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman Boards in for their respective items.
We have the little Post Alert Square and we added a small Square of the Hero or Subject to each Board in each section to make it easier to see at a glance what the Board pertains to.
It?s not perfect, but it is fairly well organized when you think about it.

OK... ::yellowrolleyes::
In case you missed it we took the same approach we used to make BYTB the largest Batman Web Site and applied that to Wonder Woman and Superman. In the process of launching our Superman Web Site we decided to add even more and DCUYTB was created. DCUYTB will one day be the largest DC Character Web Site there is. We have a proven track record with BYTB and we will do the same with DCUYTB.
We have some of the best Action Figure and Toy Reviews on the Web. OK, I write most of them, so I?m biased a bit. But other than Michael Crawford who writes some great reviews, who else is there? The reviews I post and more importantly the pictures I post in them are some of the best on the Web. Nobody has Action Figures IN ACTION. Nobody has pictures of the Tyco R/C Batmobile flying (Batnation used our pictures). Nobody shows of the lights on the Batmobiles. Nobody takes the time to do what I do. If you disagree please post a link, I?d like to check them out.
We have the best Member interaction there is. How many Web Sites encourage the Members to upload pictures? Do you know how much space that takes up, or how much that costs? I can?t think of any other Web Site that allows that. (Feel free to name any) Then there is the Shout Box. I don?t know many Boards that use that function. We use it to welcome new Members and give shoutouts to those online.
We?re a nice ?family board?. We have over 600 Members and we?ve only banned 1 of them. We don?t trample over each other and you don?t see the vulgar posts you see on other boards. If somebody asks for help, chances are that one of the Members will help out. You don?t see Members hassled because of their opinions. We are most proud of this and we will work harder than ever to keep it that way.
Beyond, Caleson and Darknight and the other staffers have all worked tirelessly to make this the best board there is. I know a couple of Members don?t like that we?ve branched out from Batman to include other DC Characters, and I?m sorry that they feel that way. Keep in mind EVERYTHING that made BYTB special is still here and now the fans of Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and all the other DC Characters will get to participate the same way Batman fans have on BYTB all these years.

I actually am very impressed by this website.Truly, I am.The layout of the pages, The banner,everything-great. The new smileys-superb. But, i , personally am a bat-fan. That was the reason i registered to be a member at BYTB. Now that this web is here, it kinda takes the magic out of being a bat-fan.

While I can understand that, we are working on a few things that will hopefully bring that back.
When you have two or three sites, and ur posting news on all of them, it can get a little hard and complicated. Thats why we moved here. There is still the Batman forums. And the BYTB site. It's just changed a little.
