Actually, I can wholy imagine the Joker without the bleached skin; the crazy eyes and evil smile are the Joker's sig. And to me the Pigtails are Harley's signeture look, not the make-up.
And I have no problem with the make-up; it's just that I've always liked how she looked without it more than with it.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!
