Entertainment Weekly's current issue includes a short article suggesting that the "mother of all superhero movies is in development" at Warner Bros. featuring the Justice League of America. According to the article, titled "Comic Booked", in issue 888 (July 28, 2006) currently on newsstands:
EW has learned that Warner Bros. is developing what could be the greatest spandex story ever told. The concept doesn't only involve the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight, but their cohorts in the Justice League of America, too. The animated movie -- part of a larger superhero-related Warner media initiative -- is likely to be based upon a famous comic saga. One possibility: an adaptation of "Identity Crisis", a 2004 murder-mystery smash written by novelist Brad Meltzer that could be used to launch the likes of Green Arrow and The Flash into their own films, 'toon or otherwise.

So an animated JLA movie, eh? That sure sounds silly considering the JLU was a perfectly fine series to continue with. Then again, given the history of past DTV releases, maybe it will take place in that universe. It would almost seem idiotic not to.

A JL movie is in the works. From what I've been hearing, it'll take place after Starcrossed, but befor JLU.

Hmm. A prequel to JLU. Its that project Timm and co. was trying to do for a while but was put on hold. From JL to JLU, something in me wants it to be like 52 where that built it from Infinite Crisis to One Year Later.
I wonder if it is.

As much as I loved JLU, it spoiled any hopes of 'The Death of Superman' being done. They had frequent appearances and battles with Doomsday, as well as an episode where Superman dies and the world mourns, etc. I don't doubt the validity of Nate's post, but I think after so many 'deaths', the citizens of Metropolis would probably just say:
'Oh look, Superman died fighting Doomsday. Ooh! There's a sale at Penneys!'
