PLOT:
The Birds have decided to begin dismantling the Syndicate and first on the list is Caretaker, owner and CEO of eBuy. But in order to do that however, Barbara and Dinah must lure Caretaker out of hiding first.
With his vintage sports car destroyed after the battle at the airfield, Barbara knows that Caretaker will be in the market to buy a replacement. Capitalizing on his compulsion for purchasing rare or antique items, Barbara manipulates Caretaker into thinking that the car he wants to buy is about to be destroyed in a film shoot. True to form, Caretaker immediately heads to Las Vegas to confront the supposed buyer with a couple of armed henchmen to take out his competition.
However it seems that antiques and other rarities are not the only things that Caretaker is fond of collecting. The Birds learn that Caretaker has been abducting people and keeping them in his hidden self-contained neighborhood below the eBuy headquarters. Kept in houses filled with his collected antiques, the prisoners are punished and sometimes killed at the Caretaker's whim. While Barbara and Dinah are arriving in Vegas for the arranged sale, Huntress and Infinity sneak into eBuy headquarters and break into the dungeon neighborhood.
Infinity uses her mysterious powers (which she refers to as a "curse") to read the mind of a woman recently killed during one Caretaker's torture sprees and learns of the horrible conditions the residents are kept in. Before they can evacuate everyone though, an alarm is triggered which threatens to initiate a contingency kill-system set in place to wipe out everyone in the facility with nerve gas. The only way to keep the gas from being released is to enter in a pass-code to disengage the system so Huntress immediately radios Oracle for help.
Luckily by that time, Barbara and Dinah had out-maneuvered Caretaker's hitmen and taken the villain into custody. By threatening to destroy all of his prized possessions, Dinah and Barbara are able to get the pass-code from Caretaker and save the prisoners.
Driving back to Platinum Flats, Dinah briefly attempts to confront Barbara about her bad mood lately. Babs refuses to let on that the cause for her dismay is the lingering memory of her fight with Joker. Despite getting the best of the clown, Oracle cannot ignore how easily he was able to slip away. She feels that her accomplishments since losing her legs will always be over-shadowed by her limited capacities in some areas. In the end, it was those limitations that allowed Joker to escape and continue his evil ways and this troubles Barbara greatly.
